So I have, just today, one full week later, finished installing updating my computer from Tiger to Leopard! I've got to tell you this was a pretty painful process. I have upgraded many a Windows machine but this was an interesting new challenge.
I have had nothing but problems over the years trying to find a way to share my calendars and contacts. I had high hopes when I made the switch to the Mac ... Well, still not perfect.
I had two calendars going - one for work that was on my machine at the office that I then published thru a .mac account. Then my home calendar on my macbook that was also published on a .mac account. I subscribed to each calendar on the opposite machine and voila I can see/share my calendars.
Well, that's all fine and good till you work from home and need to update/change something on the work calendar. You see, when the calendar is only by subscription you can only VIEW it and not EDIT it. Well that's just not working for me.
Tonight I decided to fork over the $99 to Apple and buy a .mac account for myself so I could actually SHARE my calendars and have full author capabilities on ALL calendars.
This seemed like it should be pretty seamless till I tried to sync and LOST EVERYTHING in my home calendar. Ugh! I called Apple tech support - worthless, Googled everything I could think of, read a bunch of forums, spoke with my server specialist ... no luck. I thought the iPhone would save me but no... the Apple tech support girl assured me it would ask before the sync, well let me tell you it didn't and I thought it's all gone...
That's until I called my friend Jay who in talking to him I ran across a file that was an auto backup file from a trial program I had been using. I did a reset and IT WAS ALL BACK! I can't tell you how excited I was. I mean it wouldn't have been the end of the world but it would have sucked.
It took me the next SIX HOURS to get the two calendars working as one via my .mac account. Thank goodness I have Apple Remote Desktop access to my work computer or this would have taken me days, maybe weeks!
As a bonus.. I may have even found the route of my evil font issue...
Ahhh... the inner nerd prevails! Time for bed!
So... I've been sitting here for the last hour and a half trying to resolve the duplicates of my fonts and figure out how to make my stinking Firefox work right. As of now it's rendering fonts all sorts of wrong and I get weird cut off sentences, strange css flow and overtyping when I'm filling out a form. Ugh!
What do I do?
Is there a program I need to buy?
Is there a freeware that can help me troubleshoot?
To the right is an example of a fellow blooger that I follow and how screwed up the css flow is. It only happens in Firefox, not Safari.... Do I need to reinstall Firefox?
Help!
Who watched A Charlie Brown Christmas tonight??
I just love this time of year. Such wonderful, warm memories and traditions!
I don't know when my obsession started with the Peanuts or how but I really have been a huge fan since I can remember. I just love those cute little peanuts!
I didn't get to watch live - thank goodnes for the DVR!! I have been working late the last couple of nights. With the PC to Mac transition and the fact that I had not been in the office for a full WEEK (unusual for me) I have a whole lot to catch up on!! This has been the scene in the office for a while now - iMacs all lined up getting loaded up with programs and such. The only thing we haven't been able to do is set up the server - we're bringing in the big guns for that task.
